Chapter 1: Nightmare
“This…This is ‘Sakura Private High’…?” A young lad stood at the entrance of the private school. “You’re kidding me right…?” The young lad is Nakamura Kyoichi, a 15 years old year one of this academy. ‘This can’t be true, it’s delinquents everywhere!’ Kyoichi was frozen by fear as he sees the endless crowd of delinquents all around the school grounds.
“Heh, heh, I must be dreaming… Ouch, this dream’s pretty realistic…” Kyoichi just could not believe the fact that lies before his eyes even after pinching himself. “Grandfather… just what are you trying to do to me this time…? Ouch… it hurts…” Kyoichi mumbled to himself while continuing to pinch himself.
(A few months before present day…)
“Grandfather, you’re planning to do something again aren’t you?” Kyoichi stomps into the room and questions his grandfather angrily. “Hohoho, I don’t get what you’re trying to say my grandson.” Kyoichi’s grandfather, Iesada Tetsuya replied jokingly. “Don’t try acting innocent now, you know clearly of what I meant.” Kyoichi continues to question his grandfather.
“You did something to my enrollment didn’t you? I’m sure that my results are enough to get into any of the choices I’ve made but now look at this! A school name that I’ve not listed down as one of the choices just sent me a notice and told me that I’ve been enrolled to their academy!” Kyoichi shows the piece of notice to his grandfather.
“Hohoho… now, don’t be so upset about it. All your grandfather wants is to give his grandson the best education. In fact, the principal of ‘Sakura Private High’ is a good friend of mine. I’m sure he’ll take good care of your education. So, there’s really nothing to worry about.” Tetsuya answered to his grandson in a calm tone.
“Whatever… but I’m not going to buys your lies. This matter just sound too good to be true! Whenever you meddle with my matters, they always turned out to be rather… misfortunate…” Kyoichi still finds it hard to believe his grandfather’s words. “Anyways, I’m still going to live life my own way.” Kyoichi said to his grandfather.
‘Damn, who would’ve thought that you’ll go this far… you got me good this time…’ Kyoichi finally admits defeat to the stage that his grandfather had set up for him. “But this really is… a little too much even for me…” Kyoichi took a good look around him as he find himself totally standing out in the crowd of delinquents.
‘Ding dong, ding dong…’ The bell for break time had ringed, students are rushing their way out of the classrooms. “Whew, at the least I’ve survived till now…” Kyoichi lets out a sigh of relieved after the first half of the day. “Hope nothing happens form here on… wouldn’t want to stand out too much.” Kyoichi mumbled softly to himself as he drags himself tiredly to the hallway.
‘Erm… hmmm… Testing one two, testing one two… This is an important announcement. I repeat, this is an important announcement. Could Nakamura Kyoichi of year 1 class 5 please proceed to the principal’s office now? I repeat… Could Nakamura Kyoichi of year 1 class 5 please proceed to the principal’s office now? Thank you.’ The announcement system sounded across the school.
“Now what… the principal huh… Oh yeah, grandfather did say something about the principal being a friend of his…” Kyoichi remembers the conversation back then as he reluctantly walks his way to meet his grandfather’s ‘friend’. “I guess that this must be it… Erm…hmmm…” Kyoichi reached the doors of the principal office as he readies himself before entering.
‘Knock, Knock…’ Kyoichi knocked on the wooden door of the principal’s office and entered into the room. “Is anyone there? I’m coming in…” Kyoichi walks into the room and sees a man sitting on the chair facing in the opposite direction with a beautiful secretary beside him. “Ah, you must be Nakamura Kyoichi. Please, do take a seat.” The secretary greeted Kyoichi warmly.
“I’m sorry that we’ve taken away precious time from your break. I hope that you wouldn’t mind.” The secretary offers Kyoichi a plate of cookies as she apologized for the sudden request. “It’s really fine, there’s no need to apologize.” Kyoichi sees the secretary’s concern for him and replied earnestly to her kindness.
“Erm… may I know what am I called for?” Kyoichi asked the secretary as he looked at the principal who was still facing the other direction. “Oh yes! Mr. Principal, it would be rude if you keep facing the other way. Didn’t you want to meet Kyoichi?” The secretary turned to the desk where the principal was seated.
Finally, the man behind the chair stood up and turned to Kyoichi. “Eh, eh… eh…?” Kyoichi looked at the principal who had finally decided to turn over and was totally shocked. ‘A…A… yaku…yaku… The principal’s a yakuza?!’ Kyoichi was immediately stoned as he looked at the tough looking yakuza standing before him.
“So, you’re Tetsuya’s grandson huh… I’ve heard a lot about you young man.” The principal pulls out a cigarette and lighted it. “Tetsuya told me to take care of you… Well, as long as you’re in this school, I’m sure that you’ll be pretty safe.” The principal puffs away with the cigarette on his hand as he sat down calmly on the couch.
“Sa…Safe…? I don’t get what you mean…?” Kyoichi finally manages to spit out his words in front of the great fearsome figure. “What…? Tetsuya didn’t tell you anything…? Well, I guess it’ll come to you naturally when it does…” The principal was a little surprised by Kyoichi’s reaction, but replied immediately to him.
“Anyways, if you ever run into any serious trouble… Feel free to seek shelter here, I had promised your grandfather after all. Oh by the way, ‘serious trouble’ only applies of what happens outside. Whatever mess you got yourself caught in the school, we’ll just going to handle it with the normal procedures. You’re all students after all, how ‘serious’ can it be here?” He continued on.
“Well, if you’ve got nothing else… I’ve got to get back to my job. The second half of classes are about to begin soon, you should be going back now.” The principal finishes the stick of cigarette and stood up. “I’ll see you soon young man, just try to be in one piece till then.” With that the secretary showed Kyoichi out of the principal’s office.
“I’m sorry if the principal kind of sounded a little scary… he’s actually a very nice person. Well then, hope to see you around.” The secretary said to Kyoichi and returns back into the room. “What….What just…happened? He did say something about ‘serious trouble’ right…?” Kyoichi was totally confused about what he had just heard.
“Did he just say that he’s not going to cover me if something happens to me in the school? This can’t be true right…? What is going on here…? I’m totally clueless… Wait, you…you don’t mean that this is just the beginning of a nightmare right?!” Kyoichi collapsed on his knees as he felt despair from the principal’s words.
